CHANGE OF SEASON - TIME TO TAKE CARE...

Autumn has well and truly arrived and whilst the sun is still shining brightly giving us welcome warm days, there is no doubt chillier days are here and the nights are drawing in.

Children and students who have returned to school and college can often suffer with acute symptoms at this time of year, such as coughs and colds even before they reach half-term. So it’s ideal to have some general constitutional treatment now if you do see a homeopath to give their systems a seasonal boost.

While we are still in the shadow of Covid. there is a need to be even more aware of looking after our own health - prevention is better than cure! There are so many products that one can buy over-the-counter from chemists and healthfood shops, so it’s worth checking your well-being medicine cabinet and stock up on some essentials right now! These can include Echinacea tincture, Elderberry tincture and Vitamin C. Often that sudden sore throat or feeling of low energy can happen in the evening after a taxing day and it’s ideal to have something natural at hand to take straight away to support your system.

Homeopathic kits are a far cheaper way of buying remedies and come with very user-friendly instructions for home use.

If you do have children then it’s a good idea to give them a natural tonic now before they become overtired and succeptible to minor ailments - don’t forget yourself! Floradix has a wide range of tonics and has always been a firm favourite in my practice and at home.

Hayfever season - try homeopathy to support now...

Maria Hossmar

Are you getting a bit sniffly, eyes watering or becoming aware of the pollen count and dreading the next few months? Unfortunately, for some folk the Hayfever season is upon us.

Homeopathy is a holistic natural system of medicine and has a pretty good success rate with this seasonal complaint. Ideally it is best to visit a homeopath and have thorough constitutional treatment to help reduce these uncomfortable symptoms.

The earlier in the year you can make that visit to a qualified homeopath the better to build up some resistance.

In the meantime, if your symptoms of Hayfever aren’t too extreme, it’s worth trying an excellent combination Homeopathy remedy from Helios pharmacy which is available by mail order or over the counter from their pharmacy in Tunbridge Wells or Covent Garden in London.

SPRINGTIME IS HERE!

Yoksel Zok

Yes, Springtime is here with nature’s beautiful bright blooms telling us winter is over! But there is no guarantee of warm weather and it’s prudent to be mindful of those colder days with chilly winds which can make us more susceptible to colds, coughs and ‘flu.

As the worldwide news of viruses continues to dominate, we can take responsibility for looking after our own health as much as we can. Basic measures of eating wholesome fresh food and getting enough sleep is a given. Looking at our stress levels is also important - stress has enormous impact on our immune systems.

Homeopathy’s view of health is to keep a good balance on all levels, mentally as well as emotionally - then a totality of symptoms is recorded and matched to the most suitable remedy or remedies to support the body’s innate healing system to reach its optimum state of health.

Prevention is always better than cure and so it’s important to be conscious of looking after our own health as much as we can.

And if you feel like giving yourself a Spring-clean, try Pukka’s Clean Matcha Green Tea or their Clean Greens Superblend - a great mix of super rich green foods including nettle, kale sprouts and wheat grass juice.

IT'S COLD OUT THERE - TAKE GOOD CARE...

January and February are usually testing times weather-wise and can take a toll on our immune systems. So it’s a good time to think about how we can guard against becoming susceptible to any unwanted bugs or viruses.

Common sense precautions have to be:

*Dress up well in these cold temperatures - wear a hat and gloves!

*Take more trouble with eating healthy, whole foods - plenty of fresh fruit & veg.

*Sleep is vital and enough of it too. These short days make it easier to settle down in bed with a good book and perhaps a lovely warming cup of something to aid relaxation and a good night’s rest. Pukka’s Night Time drink with Ashwaganda helps to promote calming sleep.

*Give tea and coffee a bit more of a back seat and drink more warming herbal teas - Three Ginger by Pukka is a good example or make your own with fresh ginger - with some honey and lemon. Tulsi tea is great for head clearing.

*A natural tonic to give your immune system a boost - this is the perfect time of year to invest in a bottle - my favourite has always been Floradix!

*Make sure you have a bottle of Echinacea and Elderberry syrup in your medicine cupboard. So, at the first sign of feeling a bit below par you can take something natural to help your immune system do its job.
